Unemployment in India hit a new high during the present corona crisis. There have been a huge number of layoffs in both the formal and informal sectors.
There are several reasons aiding to this rising unemployment in the country aside from the government's failure to generate employment. The high population, failure of institutions to create skilled graduates, and the high number of job seekers in the country are among the few problems responsible for the worsening of this situation.
It's high time for the government to encourage people to become job creators instead of job seekers. Just like Israel, India also needs a policy that supports start-ups even when they fail.
