Haryana Cabinet Minister, who had been administered a dose of Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine 'COVAXIN' on November 20, took to his Twitter handle to announce that he has tested positive for the highly contagious virus. Anil Vij had volunteered for a dose of COVAXIN last month under phase III clinical trial of the vaccine in Haryana state.

The Minister is currently admitted to Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantt, and has advised those who came in contact with him recently to get tested for the virus.

COVAXIN is India's first indigenous vaccine under development by Bharat Biotech against COVID-19.

Bharat Biotech has came out with a statement saying that efficacy of their vaccine 'COVAXIN' could be determined only 14 days after a second dose. It's clinical trials were based on two-dose schedule, given 28 days apart. “Covaxin clinical trials are based on a two-dose schedule, given 28 days apart. The vaccine efficacy will be determined 14 days post the second dose. Covaxin has been designed to be efficacious when subjects receive both doses,” the Hyderabad based company said in a statement, according to ANI. “The phase-3 trials are double-blinded and randomised, where 50 per cent of subjects (participants in the trial) receive vaccine & 50 per cent of subjects receive a placebo,” they added.
