India-China stand-off, Fresh firing incident at LAC reported

According to a news agency ANI, an incident of firing took place on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Eastern Ladakh sector where India and China have been engaged in a stand-off for over three months now. More details awaited.

The Fresh incident happened two days after the meeting of the defence ministers of India and China held in Moscow. People's Liberation Army on late Monday night accused India of "Illegally crossing the crossing the Line of Actual Control at the shore of the God Pao Mountain area'': reported Global Times, the Chinese mouthpiece. PLA also accused India of outrageously firing warning shots on Chinese border patrol soldiers who were about to negotiate.

PLA’s Western Theater Command spokesperson Col Zhang Shuili said that "These are serious military provocations of a very bad nature". The military spokesperson also claimed that Chinese troops were forced to take countermeasures to stabilize the situation.

The tensions between India and China had escalated on 15 June when the two sides engaged in a violent crash. However, there was no incident of firing at that time.
