In the 7th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs at Dubai International Stadium. Prithvi Shaw shines as his classy knock of 64 runs off 43 balls aids in setting a target of 176 runs for the CSK to chase.
Prithvi Shaw made 64 runs off 43 balls.

Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first. DC's openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan made a brilliant partnership with the former scoring the highest 64 runs in the match while the latter made decent 35 runs. After the fall of the opening duo, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer played stable innings. Rishabh Pant made 37 runs off 25 balls, while Shreyas Iyer made 26 runs off 22 balls. Delhi Capitals (DC) by the end of 20 overs made 175 runs. Piyush Chawla took 2 wickets, including that of Prithvi Shaw while Sam Curran remained the most economical bowler in his spell and took a wicket.

CSK had a very rough start from the beginning of the match with both its openers Murli Vijay and Shane Watson losing their wickets before making any decent runs. Vijay lost his wicket at 10 runs while Watson got out at 14 runs. The next batsman in line, Faf du Plessis played a decent knock of 43 runs off 35 balls. MS Dhoni's performance remained poor in this match as well, with him being unable to save the sinking ship of the CSK. Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets for the DC while also being very economical. However, the spell of Axar Patel remained the most economical one with him taking a wicket for DC.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous match, lost again for the second consecutive time as they remained unable to chase the target set by Delhi Capitals (DC). This is the second time in this season that CSK failed to chase against the opponent team. Skipper Dhoni remained unsuccessful in saving the day for CSK again. This time around, CSK even failed in minimizing the margin of their failure.

Delhi Capitals are off to a great start in the 13th edition of IPL. Tonight's win marks as a second consecutive win for the Delhi Capitals. DC won their last match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) through super over. The performance of DC's players is getting more consistent with every match in the IPL 2020. Youngster Prithvi Shaw played brilliant innings and showcased his opening strike capabilities against CSK bowlers.

In tonight's match, Young captain Shreyas Iyer's team outclassed one of the most successful captains MS Dhoni's team. It's high time for the Chennai Super Kings to make significant changes to improve their points in the table. The batting line up of the CSK lacks the intent to even chase a decent score of 175 runs. With Suresh Raina's absence, CSK seems to have difficulties in having a consistent option in the top order of the batting lineup. Even the bowlers are unable to take a decent amount of wickets for the CSK.
