IPL 2020, CSK vs SRH: MS Dhoni's 47 run knock goes in vain as SRH beat CSK by 7 runs

In the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 7 runs at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Aided by youngster Priyam Garg's impressive innings of 51 runs off 26 balls, SRH gave an average of 165 runs for the CSK to chase. While the top batting line-up of the CSK failed tonight, Dhoni and Jadeja's partnership couldn't help CSK chase down an achievable tonight.

David Warner won the toss and elected to bat first. Warner started the innings along with English batsman Jonny Bairstow, while the former scored an average 28 runs off 29 balls, the latter got out without making a run tonight. Manish Pandey played a classy knock of 29 runs off 21 balls. The all-time favorite Kane Williamson failed to impress with the bat tonight as he got out after making just 9 runs. Youngster Priyam Garg shined for the SRH as he played a brilliant knock of 51 runs off 26 balls tonight. Abhishek Sharma also made good runs for the SRH as he contributed 31 runs off 24 balls. By the end of 20 overs, SRH were able to give an average target of 165 runs for the CSK to chase. Deepak Chahar remained the bowling pick of the CSK as he took 2 wickets in his spell of 4 overs. Sam Curran remained unsuccessful tonight as he conceived most runs for the CSK in his spell of 3 overs.

Chennai Super Kings had a bad start with their top batting line-up failing to impress tonight. Opener Faf du Plessis made only 22 runs while the next three batsmen Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, and Kedar Jadhav lost their wickets without reaching the two-digit mark in the run tally. Waston got out making just a single run while Rayudu in his comeback match, could only make 8 runs whereas, Jadhav got out making just 3 runs tonight. MS Dhoni remained the sole batsman to save the day for already struggling Chennai Super Kings in the 13th edition of the IPL. Dhoni took his time to adjust as he played very slowly tonight, accompanied by Ravindra Jadeja, who got out making 50 runs off 35 balls. However, Dhoni failed again tonight to save the match as his innings of 47 runs off 36 balls couldn't help CSK chase an average target of 165 runs. Sam Curran tried his best for the CSK but remained unsuccessful, despite making quick 15 runs off 5 balls aided by 2 sixes. CSK lost to SRH by 7 runs. Thangarasu Natrajan remained the most successful bowler in his spell as he took 2 wickets. However, Rashid Khan shined for the Sunrisers Hyderabad as he remained incredibly economical in his spell of 4 overs tonight. Rashid Khan had an impressive economy rate of 3.00.
Chennai Super Kings are now in deep trouble as they sit at the bottom of the points table in the 13th edition of IPL. The most awaited players, Ambati Rayudu and DJ Bravo remained unsuccessful tonight in improving the performance of CSK in the current season of IPL.
