IPL 2020, KKR vs DC: Varun Chakravarthy on fire as KKR beat DC by 59 runs


In the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 59 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Aided by Nitish Rana's impressive knock of 81 runs off 53 balls and Andre Russell's explosive knock of 64 runs off 32 balls, KKR gave an high target of 195 runs for the DC to chase tonight. Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant played a steady partnership for the DC but remained unsuccessful in helping DC to successfully chase down the target given by KKR today. Varun Chakravarthy impressed everyone with him grabbing 5 wickets for the KKR in his spell of 4 overs today. Pat Cummins also impressed everyone with him being the most economical bowler in his spell of 4 overs while also grabbing 3 wickets today. Even with their loss against KKR today, DC continues to stand at the 2nd position in the points table of the 13th edition of IPL.

While KKR lost Shubhman Gill's wicket in the early, the other opener Nitish Rana impressed everyone with his amazing innings of 81 runs off 53 balls aided by a six and 13 fours today. However, the next 2 batsmen Rahul Tripathi and Dinesh Karthik failed to impress as they lost their wickets after making 13 and 3 runs respectively today. Andre Russell had a great partnership with Rana today with his explosive knock of 64 runs off 32 balls aided by 4 sixes and 6 fours. Skipper Eoin Morgan's 17 runs knock helped KKR set a good target of 195 runs for the DC to chase today. Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and Marcus Stoinis remained successful in grabbing 2 wickets each for the DC in their respective spells of 4 overs tonight.

Delhi Capitals had a bad start today with early wickets of openers Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan. While Rahane couldn't open his run account, Dhawan made only 6 runs today. The next 2 batsmen in line, skipper Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant tried to play a steady partnership to revive the hopes of DC today but failed to do so. While skipped played a brilliant innings of 47 runs off 38 balls, Pant lost his wicket after playing a slow innings of 27 runs off 33 balls. The rest of DC's batting line-up also collapsed as they couldn't stop the might of KKR bowlers today. Varun Chakravarthy was on fire today with him grabbing 5 crucial wickets in his spell of 4 overs. However, Pat Cummins remained the most economical bowler in his spell of 4 overs while also grabbing 3 wickets today.
