IPL 2020, KXIP vs RR: Gayle storm fades as RR beat KXIP by 7 wickets

In the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 7 wickets at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Aided by consistent efforts given by RR's top batting line-up tonight, RR chased down by the KXIP's target in the 18th over itself. The 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle's explosive innings of 99 runs off 63 balls helped KXIP give a decent target of 186 runs for the RR to chase tonight. Despite tonight's win against Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals still remains in danger as it stands at the 5th position in the points table of the 13th edition of IPL. Whereas, Kings XI Punjab are sitting comfortably at the 4th position in the points table of IPL 2020.

Skipper Steven Smith won the toss and elected to field first. Kings XI Punjab had a rough start with opener Mandeep Singh going out for a duck tonight. The other opener and Skipper, KL Rahul took his time and played a decent innings of 46 runs off 41 balls. Chris Gayle had a great partnership with the skipper tonight. The Universe Boss played an explosive innings of 99 runs off 63 balls aided by 8 sixes and 6 fours for the KXIP tonight. Nicholas Pooran supported Gayle with his quick cameo of 22 runs off 10 balls, allowing KXIP to set a decent target of 186 runs for the RR to chase tonight. Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes remained successful in grabbing 2 wickets each for the KXIP in their respective spells of 4 overs tonight. However, Archer remained the most economical bowler for the RR in tonight's match against KXIP.
Rajasthan Royals had a steady start aided by openers Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes tonight. While Uthappa played an average innings of 30 runs off 23 balls, Stokes played a fiery knock of 50 runs off 26 balls for the RR tonight. Sanju Samson also played explosively with his brilliant knock of 48 runs off 25 balls for the RR tonight. Skipper Steven Smith and Joss Buttler came to the crease and helped RR chase down the target of 186 runs given by the KXIP tonight in the 18th over itself. While Skipper played quick innings of undefeated 31 runs off 20 balls, Buttler played a quick cameo of undefeated 22 runs off 11 balls for the RR tonight. Murugan Ashwin and Chris Jordan remained successful in grabbing a wicket each for the KXIP tonight in their respective spells. However, Ravi Bishnoi remained the most economical bowler for the KXIP in his spell of 4 overs tonight.
