IPL 2020, MI vs KXIP: KXIP breaks its losing streak as they beat MI in the 2nd super over tonight


In the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2nd super over at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. IPL 2020 witnessed 2nd consecutive super over as the 1st super over tied between MI and KXIP tonight. Mumbai Indians gave a target of 12 runs for the KXIP to chase in the 2nd super tonight. Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal's explosive innings helped KXIP in chasing down the target of 12 runs with ease in the 2nd super over tonight. Both MI and KXIP players scored 5 runs each in their 1st super over. Jasprit Bumhah dominated the KXIP's batting line-up in the 1st super over and limited them to a score of just 5 runs. Interestingly, Mohammed Shami also remained successful in helping KXIP to defend the score of 5 runs against MI tonight in the 1st super over. It was indeed a super Sunday as IPL witness two super over matches in a single day.

Skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. Mumbai Indians had a bad start with the fall of the skipper's wicket in the early. Rohit Sharma lost his wicket after making just 9 runs tonight. However, the other opener, Quinton de Kock shined tonight with his brilliant knock of 53 runs off 43 balls. Quinton de Kock's 53 runs rescued MI from deep trouble as the next 2 batsmen in line, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan lost their wickets in the early. While Yadav lost his wicket without making any runs, Kishan made only 7 runs tonight. Krunal Pandya played stable innings of 34 runs off 30 balls. Hardik Pandya, on the other hand, lost his wicket after scoring 8 runs off 4 balls. Kieron Pollard and Nathan Coulter-Nile's explosive partnership allowed MI to set a respectable target of 177 runs for the KXIP to chase tonight. While Pollard played an explosive innings of undefeated 34 runs off 12 balls, the Coulter-Nile played a quick cameo of undefeated 24 runs off 12 balls. Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh remained successful in grabbing 2 wickets each for the KXIP tonight. However, Ravi Bishnoi remained the most economical bowler in his spell of 4 overs while also taking a wicket tonight.



Kings XI Punjab had a decent start tonight. While KXIP lost opener Mayank Agarwal's wicket in the early, skipper KL Rahul impressed everyone with his brilliant batting tonight. While Agarwal lost his wicket after making just 11 runs, the skipper played an amazing innings of 77 runs off 51 balls, aided by 3 sixes and 7 fours. Chris Gayle, who shined in his previous IPL match, played just an average innings of 24 runs off 21 balls tonight. Glenn Maxwell remained unsuccessful again tonight as he lost his wicket without making a single run. Nicholas Pooran supported the skipper with his fiery knock of 24 runs off 12 balls tonight. After the fall of the duo, Deepak Hooda and Chris Jordan tried to save the day for KXIP. Hooda's undefeated 23 runs knock and Jordan's knock of 13 runs tied the match against MI tonight as the fans get to witnessed 2nd super over of the day. Jasprit Bumrah remained the most economical bowler for the MI in his spell of 4 overs while also grabbing 3 wickets tonight. Deepak Chahar also remained successful in taking 2 wickets tonight for the MI.
