IPL 2020, MI vs SRH: Quinton de Kock's classy knock helps MI beat SRH by 34 runs

In the 17th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 34 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE. Aided by Quinton de Kock's brilliant innings and last-over push by Krunal Pandya, MI set a high target of 209 runs for the SRH to chase. Skipper David Warner's brilliant knock of 60 runs off 44 balls couldn't help SRH chase down the target given by the MI today. With today's win, Mumbai Indians are now leading the points table after dethroning Delhi capitals from that position.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. While the skipper lost his wicket after making 6 runs, Quinton de Kock shined with the bat as he made brilliant 67 runs off 39 balls for the MI. Suryakumar Yadav made quick runs in his innings with his knock of 27 runs off 18 balls. Youngster Ishan Kishan also played an average innings with his knock of 31 runs off 23 balls. Hardik Pandya tried to play explosively but lost his wicket after making 28 runs off 19 balls. Aided by Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya's explosive knocks, MI was able to set a high target of 209 runs for the SRH to chase. While the Pollard made 25 runs off 13 balls, the Krunal Pandya made impressive 20 runs off just 4 balls, aided by 2 sixes and 2 fours. Krunal Pandya had a strike rate of 500 in today's match. Rashid Khan remained the most economical bowler in his spell of 4 overs while also taking a wicket for the SRH. However, Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul shined for the SRH as they were able to take 2 wickets each in today's match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad was given a great start by the partnership of Skipper David Warner and English batsman Jonny Bairstow. While the former made 60 runs off 44 balls, the latter made 25 runs off 15 balls. Manish Pandey played an average today for the SRH with his knock of 30 runs off 19 balls. Kane Williamson came to the crease with hopes of saving the sinking ship of the SRH but shockingly lost his wicket in the early after making just 3 runs. Youngster Priyam Garg failed to impress today as he joined the Williamson in departing early for the SRH after making 8 runs. Youngster Abhishek Sharma made 10 runs off 13 balls while Abdul Samad made 20 runs off 9 balls for the SRH. MI bowlers had a great match today with Trent Boult, James Pattinson, and Jasprit Bumrah taking 2 wickets each in their spells. However, Kieron Pollard remained the most economical bowler in his spell of 3 overs in the match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is now in deep trouble and requires introspection to survive in the 13th edition of the IPL. Whereas, the defending champions Mumbai Indians are going strong in the IPL 2020 with consistent performances from the batsmen and bowlers alike. Rohit Sharma and the team is dominating the present season with ease.
