IPL 2020, RR vs DC: Marcus Stoinis shines as DC beat RR by 46 runs


In the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 64 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Marcus Stoinis shines as a star performer for DC with his brilliant all-rounder performance tonight. Stoinis played an impressive innings of 39 runs off 30 balls and grabbed 2 wickets tonight. DC bowlers dominated the match tonight with Kagiso Rabada grabbing 3 wickets tonight. After a decent start, Rajasthan Royals' batting line-up collapsed before the might of Delhi Capitals' bowlers. With tonight's massive win, Delhi Capitals continues to lead the points table of the 13th edition of IPL. Whereas, Rajasthan Royals now stands at the 7the position in the points table of IPL 2020.

Skipper Steven Smith won the toss and elected to field first. Delhi Capitals had a bad start tonight with early wickets of the openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan. While Shaw made 19 runs off 10 balls, Dhawan made lost his wicket after making just 5 runs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer tried to save the sinking ship of DC but remained unsuccessful as he got run out after making just 22 runs tonight. Rishabh Pant also joined the Skipper through a run-out after making only 5 runs tonight. With 4 wickets down in just the beginning of innings, Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer saved the day for DC with their brilliant partnership in tonight's match. While Stoinis played a crucial innings of 39 runs off 30 balls aided by 4 sixes, Hetmyer played explosively with his knock of 45 runs off 24 balls aided by 5 sixes and a four. After the fall of the duo, Harshal Patel and Axar Patel's partnership allowed DC to set an average target of 185 runs for the RR to chase in Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Jofra Archer dominated the batting line-up of DC and grabbed 3 crucial wickets tonight. However, Rahul Tewatia remained the most economical bowler in his spell of 4 overs while also taking a wicket.


Rajasthan Royals were given an average start by the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Joss Buttler. While Jaiswal played a slow innings of 34 runs off 36 balls, the Buttler lost his wicket in the early after making 13 runs off 8 balls. After the fall of the duo, Steven Smith came to the crease with and made average 24 runs off 17 balls. Kerala Youngster Sanju Samson failed to perform tonight as he lost his wicket after making just 5 runs tonight. DC bowlers dominated the rest of the batting line-up of RR except Rahul Tewatia, who played a brilliant innings of 33 runs off 22 balls tonight. Rajasthan Royals lost to Delhi Capitals tonight with a massive margin of 46 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin and Marcus Stoinis grabbed 2 wickets each for the DC in their spell of 4 overs. However, Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets in his spell of 4 overs while Axar Patel remained the most economical bowler for the DC while also taking a wicket tonight.


Delhi Capitals is the most successful team so far in the 13th edition of IPL. They have won 5 matches out 6 in the ongoing season.
