Updated: Sep 6, 2020

Messi after stating that he will be leaving FC Barcelona decided to stay 'to avoid legal dispute'. Messi had earlier expressed his desire to leave the club after the FCB's humiliating defeat by the FC Bayern Munich in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League quarter-final match.
In the interview given by Messi to Goal.com on Friday, Messi said "I was unhappy and wanted to leave. I have not been allowed to leave in any way and I have decided to stay at the club so as not to get into a legal dispute. The management of the club led by Bartomeu is a disaster”.
FC Barcelona had added a clause in his contract for him to walk away from the club only after paying a hefty amount of €700 Million. He said "Another way out was only through a legal trial. I would never go against the club that I love in the court of law".
Messi also revealed that he believed that the club needed more younger players. Argentine forward even considered looking for new goals and new air.
This news will surely cheer up the hardcore fans of the FCB and six-time Ballon d'Or winner Leonel Messi.
