UP: Bodies of two minor sisters recovered from a pond in Fatehpur district | family alleges rape


The Uttar Pradesh Police has recovered the bodies of two minor sisters with eye injuries from a pond of a village in UP's Fatehpur district. The family of the victims has alleged that the sisters were killed after an unsuccessful rape attempt by the assailants. However, the post-mortem report suggests the cause of death to be drowning.

The Uttar Pradesh Police has recovered the bodies of two minor sisters with eye injuries from a pond of a village in UP's Fatehpur district. The family of the victims has alleged that the sisters were killed after an unsuccessful rape attempt by the assailants. However, the post-mortem report suggests the cause of death to be drowning. The bodies of the girls, aged 8 and 12 years, were retrieved from the pond late on Monday evening, ASP Rajesh Kumar told the news agency PTI. He added that both the bodies had injury marks on their eyes. The sisters had left for the field in the afternoon to get vegetables but did not return, the police said. However, The family members of the minor sisters have alleged that the assailants killed the girls after an unsuccessful attempt to rape them, the officer also added. Prashant Verma, the SP of Fatehpur district told ANI on Tuesday evening that the post-mortem report of the two bodies confirmed the cause of death as drowning. The cases of crime against women in Uttar Pradesh have been rising rapidly despite the efforts claimed by the government being taken to curb it.
